Five Perfect Games For the Baby Shower

The classical baby shower format breaks down like this: guests arrive, mingle, have a meal or snacks, play games, the mother unwraps her presents, more mingling, and finally dessert and coffee. The baby shower games, bridging the space between the dining and the all-important gift giving sections of the baby shower, are sort of the centerpiece of the whole event.
The following games are listed in no priority. They're all equally fun for guests, guests of honors, and hostesses alike.
Mommy Trivia
Guests prove how well they know the guest of honor by answering questions about her life. For example, where did the mom to be go to high school? What's her favorite movie? How did she meet the baby's father? The questions are a good way to get guests reminiscing, and they work separately or in several different teams.
Get the safety pins from the bowl of rice.
This is a harder game than it seems! Guests are blindfolded and try to pick as many safety pins from a bowl of rice as possible in under a minute. A true test of steady nerves and concentration, guests will love seeing each other struggle to find the pins. The winner has the most pins and the least amount of rice spilled from the bowl.
Guess the celebrity baby
Using only the child's first name, guests try to match them to their celebrity parents. A fun way to start gossiping and chit chat. Guests can work alone or in teams, with one point for each celebrity parent named (mothers and fathers).
Stinky Diapers
Don't be alarmed! The stinky diaper is actually printed on a small "scratch and sniff" card and placed in a deck of clean smelling cards. The winner is the one with the diaper that smells just like fresh baby poop. Both versions are available on an online store called Corner Stork Baby Gifts .
How pregnant is she?
Guests take turns cutting a length of twine that they think will encircle the mommy's waist. Each guest gets to wrap her ball of string around the mother's waist. The winner is the one who comes the closest without overlapping. Corner Stork Baby Gifts also has a version called Is It Time ?
The prizes for any of the games above are up to the hostess. They can range from an extra favor to larger prizes or gift certificates.
