Centerpiece Sets - What's Inside This Hot, New Trend?

It's hard to imagine an event like a wedding, a corporate dinner, a baby shower, bar or bat mitzvah party and even an at-home dinner party without centerpieces on the guest tables and buffet tables. So how do you get centerpieces? Let me count the ways. You can borrow centerpieces from a friend or rent them. You can order what you'd like from a florist, who makes them and delivers them. That can be pricey. You can run around town or go online purchasing all the parts and accessories to make them yourself.  Though more cost-effective, this can be time-consuming and disastrous if you aren't creative. Finally, there's a new option for the less creative, budget-wise do-it-yourself fan! Centerpiece sets!

Centerpiece sets come to you fully designed, with all the necessary elements right in the box. All you have to do is put it together. It's that easy! The sets come in a variety of designs, colors, sizes and price points, so matching a centerpiece to your event and your budget is a snap. Let's take a look at some of the things you'll find inside centerpiece sets:

Vase/Bowl - Depending on the design you choose, your set will come with a vase or a bowl in clear or colored glass, ceramic or metal.

Floral Stems - For obvious reasons, centerpiece sets come with permanent botanicals (artificial flowers.) The most popular are roses, orchids, cherry blossoms, hydrangeas and seasonal stems, like holly with red berries or branches with colorful autumn leaves. You can always pick or purchase fresh flowers for the centerpieces if you're heart is set on them.

Glass Caddies - Somewhat larger than votives, glass caddies are specifically designed for floating candles. A set may contain three or four glass caddies to set around the central vase or bowl.

Glass or Metal Votives - Small votive candles are often used like the glass caddies to surround the vase or bowl. The votives can be clear or colored glass, or metal with a silver finish, a gold finish or even a color. Sometimes cut-out designs on the votives create a lovely glow around the table.

Candles - Again, this depends on the design.  The possibilities are round or square pillar candles, tea candles, elegant tapers, votives or floating candles.

Crystals/River Stones/Crush Ice - All these small accessories add so much to a centerpiece. Like candles, they might go inside the vase or bowl or sprinkled on the table. Sparkling crystals come in different colors and shapes, like diamonds or hearts. River stones are small, smooth and create a natural ambience. "Crush ice" is simply small, smooth, clear glass stones in a variety of shapes.

Sea Shells - Beach-themed sets often come with a variety of seashells to put inside the bowl or vase or to scatter around the table near the vase or bowl.

Small Statuary - Centerpiece sets designed for weddings may have small, white swans or colorful birds to place around the base of the vase or bowl. The beauty of centerpiece sets is that they take the guesswork out of making your own exquisite centerpieces, so you can always take part of the credit for the impressive tables at your event.
